What Does a TikTok Shop Agency Actually Do?

Will ShonnWill ShonnCo-Founder, BeaSocial · Updated

The title sounds simple, but a good TikTok Shop agency is closer to an outsourced commerce team than a marketing supplier. Here is what sits inside the job, what it looks like week to week, and how to tell a genuine operator from an agency that has bolted "TikTok Shop" onto a social media offer.

The core of the job: running the shop

Everything starts with shop management: registration and compliance, product listings and pricing, promotions, shop health, customer service standards and performance reporting. This is operational work, done daily, and it is what keeps a shop ranking in TikTok Shop search and eligible for platform campaigns.

The growth engine: creators, LIVEs and paid

Sales on TikTok Shop come from content, and agencies are judged on their ability to produce it at scale.

  • Creator affiliates: recruiting, briefing and managing creators who post shoppable content on commission. The best agencies have hundreds of creators posting per brand.
  • LIVE selling: regular LIVE shopping streams with trained hosts and moderators, run on a schedule so the audience knows when to tune in.
  • Influencer campaigns: bigger creator partnerships timed to launches and cultural moments.
  • Paid media: GMV Max and Shop Ads, spent behind content that has already proved it converts.

What that looks like in practice

In a normal week on one of our accounts, that means listings being tested and updated, new creators receiving samples and briefs, a creator competition running in our Discord community, LIVE sessions on the schedule, GMV Max budgets moving towards the videos that are selling, and a report built around GMV rather than views.

The mix changes by brand. For Vanish the job was creator content at scale: 165 videos across cleaning, beauty, parenting and #StainTok communities at a £45 average CPM against a £50 target. For Leapfrog Remedy and Mind Provision it was a pipeline of UGC built for paid social, running at a 3.5x average ROAS. For Aqualona it was repositioning a traditional household brand for TikTok, which lifted TikTok Shop sales by 102% in six months.

The unglamorous part: operations and data

Fulfilment strategy, stock planning for LIVE spikes, returns and customer service all sit with a full-service agency too. So does measurement: regular reporting on GMV, ROAS, conversion rate and profit, not just reach and engagement.

Every decision should be made on data. We track content, creator and LIVE performance continuously to find what actually moves sales for each brand, then put more behind it.

We do it for our own brand too

The clearest test of an agency is whether its methods work when its own money is on the line. Bezzie is our own brand, built and run by our team with the same playbook we use for clients. It became the #1 best-selling toy on TikTok Shop within two months, with 59M+ views.

When is an agency worth it?

If your product has proven demand and healthy margins but you lack the team to produce content, manage creators and run LIVEs every week, an agency saves you years of trial and error. If you have not yet found product-market fit, fix that first: no agency can scale a product people do not want.
